On Thursday, September 22, 2022 the Windham Town Board will be holding public hearings on two proposed local laws. The hearings will take place at Town Hall in Hensonville.
At 6:30PM, the public is invited to comment on a local law establishing a 6-month moratorium on new applications for site plan approval. The moratorium would not be applicable to Site Plan Review applications that have already been filed with the Planning Board, or site plan review for single family residences within the Town. The purpose of the moratorium is to give the Land Use and Zoning Committee some time to review and propose updates to the existing Site Plan and Subdivision Law as a stop-gap measure while the town considers enacting zoning. A copy of the moratorium law can be viewed here.
On or around 6:45PM (after comments on the moratorium law) the public is also invited to comment on a draft Noise Local Law. Adoption of a local law regulating unreasonable noise was one of the recommendations included in the Town’s recently-adopted Comprehensive Plan. For the past few months, the Land Use and Zoning Committee has been working on a draft noise law that defines “unreasonable noise” and prohibits such noise from taking place between the hours of 10PM and 7AM. A copy of the draft Noise Law can be viewed here.
